We were so excited to have Emmy come to Activity Days for her first time! We don't get treats very often but when there is a new girl I make sure to have something sweet to welcome them. We made frosting from scratch and decorated cupcakes to celebrate Emmy joining our group.

Nursery Toy Drive
We are currently collecting new and gently used toys to replace some of the old or broken toys in the nursery. We will meet at the church on February 11th at 4:00 to clean and sort the toys in the nursery. This will pass off an activity in the "Serving Others" category. If you bring your book with you I will sign it off for you or remember to ask your mom or dad to sign it off for you at home. Hope to see all of you there.
"And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." Mosiah 2:17

Our first 2 Activities
At our first activity each of the girls filled out a time capsule worksheet about themselves. We sealed them in an envelope marked "Open on 12th Birthday". When each girl turns 12 I will return their envelope so that they may read it. I hope reading it will help them to remember who they were and what they enjoyed when they were 8. It will be so fun for them to see how much they've changed and grown in just 4 years.
We made Journal Jars at our next activity. It was a lot of fun for me to hear the girls read and answer some of the questions they put into the jars. I learned so much about your girls that day. We read a story about a little girl whose sister was killed in a bicycle accident. She was able to go back in her journal and read about a day she had spent with her sister before the accident. Reading that helped her to feel as if her sister was with her again and gave her a sweet feeling. I know that writing in their journals will be a blessing in their lives and hope that you will encourage your daughter to do it each day.
“begin today and write … your goings and your comings, your deeper thoughts, your achievements, and your failures, your associations and your triumphs, your impressions and your testimonies. We hope you will do this, … for this is what the Lord has commanded, and those who keep a personal journal are more likely to keep the Lord in remembrance in their daily lives.” Spencer W. Kimball
